Owning a car comes with a lot of potentially expensive responsibilities. Not only do you have to pay for the ever inflating price of gas, but you will also have to pay for sometimes costly repairs in the event that a part on your car breaks down. Since it is inevitable that at some point your car will break down and this will not be your choice, how you have your car repaired is entirely up to you. If you are experiencing car problems and you don’t have a lot of money to spend, a recycled car part may be right for you.

If you need to buy a replacement part for your car, almost every part comes with a choice of being recycled or new. Most people who are unfamiliar with the difference may automatically assume that a new car part is better, but this is not always the case because there are a lot of high quality recycled parts that can be found. A recycled car part is simply an older car part that has been rebuilt to work like new again and these type of car parts are usually way cheaper than a new part. Although a recycled car part might not last as long as a new car part, most come with a limited warranty for a certain amount of time. If you have an unexpected car problem and you do not have a lot of money to spend, buying a recycled auto part can be a wise and budget friendly choice to make.

New auto parts are the way to go when you want to replace a part in your car. Since most newer parts are going to have some sort of limited warranty, it’s going to beat purchasing older parts. If you’re going to fix a part in your car on your own, you may be looking to call up a local dealer in order to find the part for your car. In order to successfully find this part, here are some quick tips that you should note down:

The first thing that you should always do is call up the dealer that sells your particular brand of car. By doing so, you can be assured that they will have your part in stock. Now, even though they may have your part in stock, it doesn’t mean that you want to purchase it right way. Instead, you’re going to want to jot down the price.

Once you have written down the price for the part, call up at least three other dealers in your area. You can find these dealers by searching online or even going to your phone book. Call them up and collect the various prices. Once you find the cheapest priced dealer, go back and even consider haggling to get them to drop the price by a few dollars. By doing this, not only will you find a dealer that sells new parts, you’ll be able to save some good money in the process.

If you’re a fan of purchasing auto parts for your car, you have probably soon realized that used parts can be up to 70 less than newer car parts. Now, while it’s tempting to purchase them, you’re probably wondering if it’s truly worth it.

The first thing that you’re going to want to consider is the age of your car. If your car has more than 100,000 miles and it’s over ten years old, you probably won’t be holding onto the car that much longer. This is when used car parts will make sense. If the car is newer and has less than 75,000 miles or so, it would probably be best to consider purchasing a newer part instead.

The thing with new parts is that most of them are not only going to last longer, they are going to come equipped with a warranty that can protect you up to a few years. That way if something fails down the road, you can get a replacement for free.

By analyzing the age of your car and the cost of the part, it’s really down to the car owner on whats going to be best for the situation.

Repairing body damage on a car or truck can be incredibly expensive, so one of the ways that many auto shops and insurance companies are able to reduce the costs are by using aftermarket parts. Parts directly from automobile companies can costs hundreds of dollars, and if you’re paying for your repair, that is a mind boggling price.

However, much like grocery stores are able to produce very high quality generic versions of food products, aftermarket companies can produce high quality replacement vehicle parts. Most aftermarket parts look exactly the same as the OEM parts, and they are as durable and reliable as the originals. They are also sometimes easier to get a hold of than OEM parts, especially if the vehicle being worked on is an older car.

Some people still prefer to have manufacter’s equipment on their vehicles and avoid aftermarket parts. This is the individual’s choice, but be aware that unless you remove an aftermarket part and look for the serial number, it is unlikely that anyone will be able to tell the difference between aftermarket and OEM parts. If you are looking to lower your insurance rates or out of pocket cost for body repairs, look into aftermarket parts.

Auto parts can get rather expensive if you don’t know where to look. One of the most common problems is that many just rely on a dealership or local parts store to get the part and be done with it. The main problem with this is that most of the time you’re going to be overpaying. In order to save money on parts, here are a few tips and tricks that you can use:

Search the web: The first thing that you should do is search the web for your part. If you have the part number, you’ll already have the advantage. By checking with at least three various auto parts stores online, you should be able to find a rather low price.

Junkyards: If this is a part for a car that has more than 100,000 miles, you may want to consider buying a used or even refurbished part. Again, know the part number and call up a few local junkyards. These junkyards will not only have your parts, but they will be extremely cheap as well.

These are two fantastic ways to find cheap parts. By sitting down and comparing a few different locations online as well as the junkyard, you should be able to save 99 of the time.
